Job Summary
Provide a variety of administrative tasks in support of physicians within The Boston Spine Group. You must demonstrate initiative, proficiency, and good judgment to optimize the use of physician’s time. Strong organizational and communication skills and a commitment to quality and excellence in service are important components of the role.
Essential Functions
Daily duties include answering phones and taking clear legible messages. Maintaining physician calendars and coordinating patient appointments. Maintaining the medical record; filing and retrieving medical records from archives. Compiling new charts for new patients and completing initial intake forms with patients. Preparation of billing encounter forms and proofread returned dictation. Records requests for prescription renewals and forward it to physician for approval. Pulling charts for all patient days and scheduling patient office appointments and ancillary tests. Collect co-pays from patient at time of visit. Obtaining referrals, authorizations and verifying insurance eligibility and patient demographics. Forward all applicable information to billing department to obtain W/C or MVA negotiation fees. Record patient tests and surgeries on Excel spreadsheet. Educate patients on TBSG privacy practices and medication policy. Have patients sign insurance waiver if PCP managed care authorization is not on file or Medicare waiver for an “uncovered” service. Respond to all attorney calls regarding obtaining patient medical records.
Job Qualifications
Prior experience of at least 2 years or more working in a medical office atmosphere. Familiarity with medical practices and federal HIPAA regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Customer service experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
