Medical Assistant
The Boston Spine Group is currently seeking certified medical assistants for a busy medical practice located in Newton, MA.
Job Functions
Medical assistant will assist in patient care while physicians are delivering in-office spinal injections and radiological testing. The Medical Assistant will work primarily in a clinical setting and will be required to perform clerical duties on a regular basis.
Hours
Wednesday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Job Duties
- Assists with patient care related to spinal injections, clinics and designated procedures under physician direction.
- Prepares patient for healthcare visits by greeting them and escorting them to exam / procedure rooms.
- Notifies physician and/or administrative staff when patients are ready to be seen.
- Takes vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, weight). Medical Assistants will not perform blood draws or injections.
- Sets up / cleans exam /procedure rooms and ensures that they are adequately supplied.
- Assists patients with transfers and with ambulation.
- The Medical Assistant maintains a safe and healthy working environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures that comply with federal and state regulations and JCAHO standards.
- Works effectively with the Boston Spine Group administrative and clinical staff to deliver smooth and effective patient care.
- Provides administrative cross-coverage as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma;
- Medical Assistant and/or or 1-3 years practical experience in a clinical setting required;
- Obtain/maintain CPR certification;
- Good communication and organizational skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
